This foundation was created In honor of the life of very Rev. Fr. Louis Odudu the foundation was formed. This Foundation is a Non-profit Organisation that aims to continue Fr. Louis Odudus legacy by giving opportunity to the less privilege for education and empowerment.
Rev.Fr. Louis Odudu born on March 20th, 1960 in Gusau, Zanfara State into a Catholic family. He was the sixth of eleven children of Late Mr. Jonathan Abraka Odudu of Okpe-Isoko in Isoko North LGA, and Mrs. Cecilia Ojoyebo Odudu from Aboh in Ndokwa LGA, both in Delta state of Nigeria.
The family relocated to the South due to the civil war where Fr. Louis completed his primary education in Catholic boys primary school Ozoro, Isoko North LGA Delta state. He was given all the support and encouragement that he needed by his family when he decided that he wanted to be a Catholic Priest. So he proceeded to Holy Martyrs of Uganda minor Seminary, Effurun for his secondary education and later to Saints Peter and Paul Major Seminary Ibadan.
Rev. Fr. Louis Odudu obtained a diploma in Religious Studies and Bachelor of Theology (B.TH) from Saints Peter and Paul Major Seminary Ibadan. He was ordained a deacon in 1986 and a Priest on the 7th day of November 1987 with his best friend, Very Rev. Dr. Abaka Oghenejode by late Bishop Edmund Fitzgibbon of Warri Diocese.
Very Rev. Fr. Louis Odudu started his service in the Lord’s Vineyard in his Alma Mater, Holy Martyrs of Ugandan Seminary Effurun. He was later re-assigned to St. Charles Catholic Church Okwagbe as Parish Priest. He combined his new role with acquiring Masters Degree from the Catholic Institute of West Africa (CIWA) Port Harcourt.
His next assignment was dual, Parish Priest of Mother of the Redeemer Catholic Church Effurun, and the Chancellor of Warri Diocese. To allow more time for the Chancellery office, he was moved from the Mother of the Redeemer to take charge of the Army Barracks Effurun.
Recognizing his selfless service and dedication, Fr Louis Odudu was seconded to the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria Lagos in 2003, where he served till 2015 in various capacities as Director of Pastoral Affairs, Deputy secretary General , MD / CEO of Veritas Travel Agency which he revived on behalf of the Bishop’s Conference of Nigeria. He also served on the National Christian Pilgrims Commission(NCPC) taking Priests, Religious, Government officers, traditional rulers and lay Faithfull on pilgrimages to Jerusalem, Rome, Spain. Fr Odudu introduced the Students Educational tours and has taken students to France, Rome, South Africa, USA, London, Spain.
On completion of his national assignment in 2015, Fr.Odudu proceeded on sabbaticals in the United kingdom. His host Parish , St Saviour’s Catholic Church, Lewisham London offered Fr. Louis Odudu a permanent stay at the end of the sabbatical leave, but he opted to go back home to continue his service in the Lord’s Vineyard.
Very Rev. Fr. Louis Odudu returned to Nigeria in May 2018 and was posted to the seat of wisdom Catholic church Effurun, where he served until the Lord called him on the 19th of September 2018.
